1. Strategic Planning of Your Experiment

Beamtime is a valuable and limited resource. To make the most of your allocated time, we strongly recommend that you develop a prioritized experiment plan.
Start with the most critical measurements and reserve less time-sensitive steps for later phases of your beamtime.

2. Familiarize Yourself with TARLA Facilities

Prior to your experiment, review the technical capabilities of the beamline and laboratory infrastructure you will use.

  • For detailed beamline specifications: [Beamlines at TARLA]
  • User manuals and technical documentation: [User Resources]
If you have questions, contact the relevant beamline or technical personnel in advance.

3. Register Your Experiment Team

All participants who will access the facility or contribute to the experiment must be registered through the TARLA User Portal.
Only approved team members will be granted facility access.

4. Complete Required Training

Safety and facility-specific training is mandatory before participating in any experiment.

  • Modules may include radiation safety, lab protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Training certification may need to be renewed if expired or outdated.

5. Declare Your Samples and Equipment

All materials, samples, and experimental equipment must be declared through your user project well ahead of your beamtime.

  • Submissions should be made at least 2 weeks in advance to allow proper review and approval.
  • Late changes may not be approved in time for your scheduled session.

📄 See available laboratory equipment and technical infrastructure: [Labs & Equipment]
⚠️ Some devices require prior booking. Please coordinate with beamline staff.

6. Safety Review Process

All declared samples and materials are subject to safety assessment.
Experiments involving chemicals, biological agents, or nonstandard procedures may require additional documentation.

  • A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) must be provided for all classified or hazardous materials.

7. Shipping Your Samples

If you are shipping materials to TARLA, please ensure they arrive at least one week prior to your scheduled beamtime.
Label all packages clearly with your project name and designated beamline.

8. Ethical Approvals (If Applicable)

Experiments involving the following require ethical approval prior to beamtime:

  • Human-derived biological materials (e.g. tissues, blood samples)
  • Animal-derived materials (e.g. tissue samples, fluids, cells)

📌 The ethics document must explicitly state that the research will be conducted at TARLA.
